The best thing an artist can to do achieve this profound revaluation is to be selfish and separate themselves from everything but their mind. It’s the hardest thing someone can do to themselves. Everything evolves around the artist being able to go into that void of the soul and pull themselves out. Most of the time, people can’t even make it in, let alone emerge from it.

Rest in piece to all those that died trying.

Most of the time, they can't make it in because something on the outside is holding them back. I attend Community College and High School classes, where I take my place as a 11th year student. I am 16 years old.

Over the past year I have used this blog to write random thoughts, quick 5-minute essays, little blurps of emotion- an all around general arrangement of online penmanship. You can see all my old work by looking through the blog archive. After re-reading everything I wrote, I came to the conclusion I am wasting internet space.

Seeing as how we are in such short supply of this precious space, I have decided to take things a little bit more seriously; putting more time into the writing I present on this blog. Since I feel this is such a drastic change from how I used to do it, I have completely re-designed the look and feel of the site and added "2.0" to the name to make the change sound more o'ffishul.

I want to write and express my oh so unique opinions. I also want people to read my writing. Where a better place? I write because I love to do it, and it feels great when someone tells me how good I am. I also accept criticism. Although it's rarely warranted.

I am not imply you're about to read the next King novel or Rowling fantasy story. I am simply saying I will put more time into these pieces seeing as how the point is for you, the reader, to want to read it.

Today is 9.09.09. School has just begun. As such, I will be quite busy for the coming days. But I hope you will all check in on this blog from time to time as I will find time to add my first "As Bees in Honey Drown 2.0" post within the next 2 weeks.

And I hope you all enjoy.

Random Babbling

Music is good. This is what plagues humanity.
What we are suppose to do is the disease, and what we want to do is the cure.

Sometimes you are trapped to wake up in the morning, and instantly think about how you are going to pay for this months rent. And last months. Sometimes you are trapped all day long thinking about how you could have handled your last relationship better, and if you could have fixed it. If you could still be in it. Sometimes you are trapped into thinking about school. The atmosphere of twilight excites me and relaxes me (and especially since it's fall) allowing the little bits and crumbs of my problems to fall off, letting me see the core of the issues, or the thoughts.

It's one thing to know what your problem is, it's another to do something about it. And no one can tell you how to deal with your problems. They can suggest, they can try and help, they sometimes (in rare cases) can guide you to a certain extent, but never can anyone but yourself solve your problems.

It's not fair -at all- that you have to deal with problems that are beyond your control, by your self. If this is the case, if you weren't the root cause the problem, you have to ask yourself another question. How is it your problem. What happened to make it affect you.

╬╬╬

I said something about a hole and civilization...
Do you see it now?
No, it's O.K. Your teacher does too.
Your landlord expects you to pay the rent.
Your government expects you to follow their laws.

All of these people, things, systems, symbolical ideas, biblical stories, Gods, are powerless without you.
They are powerless once you realize that they are only there to guide you until you are ready to guide someone else.

╬╬╬

Teenage years are quite interesting because it is the transformational period. Well I had more fun with this one.

Enjoy, my telepathic brethren.

Jordan’s Writing Autobiography

Writing about writing. Interesting concept, yes?

I believe, as others do I’m sure, that writing is an art form. Each letter connected to a word, each word connected to a sentence, each sentence a part of an idea.

Over the years I have been learning to perfect my writing knowing that in the future, one way or another, my lively-hood will depend on it. So in order to prepare myself, I have begun to learn more about what makes a good writer. When you ask yourself what makes a good writer, what do you think? For a lot of people, creativity and imagination and a good story is a good answer. But rarely has a writer come a long and make a fantastic novel based on the plot. And if he/she does, they usually have the writing skill to back it up. It’s always how the writer writes. The ‘skill’ if you will. For example: You could write a lecture on one of the most boring subjects in all of time, history, but still make it exciting to read! How?! If you deliver it well, if you make wonders with words, if it sound nice. This is what I think makes a good writer, the writing itself. And over the course of this paper, I will explain to you how I got my start in writing and how I got better and better, with more practice and patience. And a little frustration.

I first started writing when I was around four to five years of age. I would write magnificent things that dazzled my brain. Although it only dazzled me because I was the only one who could read it. It was usually scribbles, not even on the lines of the paper. I couldn’t write! But it didn’t mean I couldn’t experience the feeling of writing. The feeling you get whence you complete a sentence, a phrase, a paragraph. It felt wonderful to learn a new style of communication.

I began writing coherent sentences that people could read in kindergarten. I remember learning the sound of the letter ‘S’ and how to write it on paper. In 3rd grade, I did something I hadn’t done before…Write a story in narrative form. I remember it clearly, I began writing a story about frank and his adventure in the park, but I got carried away at acting out the narrator and the story soon became about him and his personal life. Of course I got excited and wanted to make it long so I started putting one word per page. Back then I thought quantity equaled quality, that’s when I started learning the better.

In 5th grade I had one of those teachers that truly valued all the things a good teacher should, such a blessing. It was then I started learning about introduction, body, conclusion, format, how to site references, the whole deal. My career in formal writing had begun. In 7th grade I began writing essays. Woe was me. It was painful to write a page about the Aztecs, or a review of Animal Farm or Lord of the Flies. I couldn’t grasp the formal essay and how easy it was. At least not yet. And then there was 8th grade…and English class alongside it. Back in the day, I didn’t have separate classes. My school was new and didn’t know what it was doing. So in 8th grade, they started separating the classes and thus English class was born. The teacher, as good hearted as she was, was to a tad too much for me. She was eccentric, exuberant, and loud. Of course this was popular among the girls, the boys just went to class, did the work and left. But besides her personal hygiene, she was a good teacher. She helped us structure our sentences, our paragraph, and editing skills. My work was still immature at that time but I felt I was ready to write better.

I entered the Met High School in the fall of ’07. During the course of my freshmen year, I gained the ability to easily write a-typical five paragraph essay. I was frustrated though. Just because I knew how to write it, didn’t mean that I was writing it well. And I knew that. Little did I know I was on the brink to becoming a better writer then I ever had been.

During my summer vacation from ninth grade to tenth, I started a blog one night around one in the morning, just to express some thoughts that were circulating in my head. As I was writing, I would re-read my work, edit it, delete it, look up words in the thesaurus, and the like. After I was done, I ‘published’ the post then took a look at the work I had created. I was flabbergasted. Whatever it was that I had been waiting for, had finally clicked. Whatever it was that had been holding me back, was gone. Whatever it was, I was happy. The next day I wrote an even longer post and showed it to family and friends. Most of them took note in my improvement of writing and applauded me. I was filled with eccentricity. My writing still has much room for improvement, but it took a great leap this year, and for this I am content.

I think within those weeks, a path of writing in my life was born. I started pondering book plots, short stories, and thinking about how to expand my skills. It felt good to figure out what it was I wanted to do.

Now I just need to do it.

So get this...

It's not about whether the glass is half full or half empty, nobody cares about your view. font-family: "Times New Roman","serif";">This was an assignment I had to do for class (describe your reading life). One of the first in my sophomore year actually. I hate writing for school, it feels so contained and there is no freedom. You can't express yourself, you have to be 'formal'. I'm going to try and do something to twist that this year. To make writing in school more enjoyable.

Reading Autobiography

I remember being read to as a child by my parents back before I could read. After I could, I got books from my local library to look at the pictures, only lightly paying attention to the plot. Thankfully my reading has since then evolved. In early grade school I read children’s paperbacks then moved onto short novels in 4th-5th grade. Middle school was a big leap in my reading career. I started reading classic titles like Animal Farm, Lord of the Flies and 1984. I was also introduced to authors Stephen King and Ray Bradbury. Both those authors have been very influential.

Reading has proven to be important in my life. Different styles of writing, different stories and different opinions have shaped my own writing styles, preference of genre and opinions. Reading seems to give me a sense of perspective on whatever it is I’m reading. I think this is one of the main reasons I like reading. Whether it be fiction or non-fiction, each story teaches you something, be it moral or tangibly accessible in day-by-day life. Another reason I like to read, specifically fiction, is because it allows me to extract myself from the current reality and place myself in the one I am reading about. It’s quite the experience.

There is so much I want to do with reading. What do I want to learn specifically? I want to know how to analyze what I read. Mostly for schoolwork purposes, and studying, it would help me break apart sentences and paragraphs in a textbook to understand the information I need to know to be able to learn better! Since school just started, my reading is currently personal fiction choices, but I’m sure I will be able to improve this in a few weeks once we really dive in to the textbooks.

While I think about what I want to learn, I also think about what I could tell me fellow classmates about reading. I would tell them that you either like to read, or you don’t. That’s one of the things I’ve learned over the years. I’m sure you can learn to appreciate reading, but it’s something that needs to be pushed subtlety and let the reader guide him/herself.

To wrap things up, I would just like to say that reading is something that can be used to help you greatly, or not used at all.

Nothing much in there...

I feel like I should talk about something, but I don't know what.

America's Youth

I'm sitting here at midnight wondering about things, and as I roam the endless sea we call the internet, I see a lot of people degrading America's youth. My dad also recently purchased a book called The Dumbest Generation by Mark Bauerlein.

This has sparked my interest.

I have no problem admitting the level of stupidity among the youth in today's society is a bigger issue then most people know or care about. But I would like for you to take a moment to think about why children, teens and young adults are seemingly going downhill intellectually.

What have you come up with? Video games? TV? Not reading enough? Bad schoolwork ethics? The list can go on, I assure you. But now think about why they are playing video games, watching TV, not reading enough and getting bad grades.

What have you come up with? Laziness...no motivation...lack of discipline...no time management and organization skills... Yup. That list goes on too. Are you catching my drift? Think about why they are lazy, have no motivation, lack discipline and have no time/organization skills.

As I've tried to demonstrate, there is an endless amount of layers with this. But if you think about it, all it really is, is diverting the blame to something else, when you need to be thinking where the core of the problem is. I see the core being you, the person over 30. The person who gave birth to the dumbest generation.

Now let us get some facts straight. Not all people over 30 are to blame. Just like not all people under 30 are dumb! This is all just one big generalization. But back to the point ; Where do the youth get all their ideas, styles, trains of thought, learning preferences, from? Why the older people of course! Since the dawn of time the inexperienced have turned to the experienced for answers and help. See what I'm getting at? It's a big domino with very foreseeable repercussions:

-The 50's
We had gotten out of WW2 a few years ago, everyone was still shaky from it so conservatism is big.

-The 60's
The youth, not fully understanding the war and why everyone was so uptight, saw the 50's as bland and boring. They decided to spice things up a bit. Thus the 60's consisted of the beginning of Sex, Drugs, and Mass Reproduction aka Sex (for those people that don't know what sex is really for).

-The 70's
Liked what the 60's had started, it was fun. Pass the dope! Oh hey what's this Cold War...

-The 80's
So what the 70's had really gotten into was nice and all, but, they felt like they had to do more. To contribute to society. Racism, out the door they said (yes this had progressed by landmarks earlier in history, but I thought it appropriate to place here. I see the the 80s as the last of the blatant racism, even though it continues today). And then they said, fuck the Ira...er Vietnam War! Get the picket signs and chains! The 80's were exciting.

-The 90's
Whiplash. The Berlin Wall comes down. The youth have gotten tired of smoking dope. And the police enforcement has too. More bills and senate laws come into place. Dreamstate America is over. Y2K. Holy shit! Internet ahoy!

-The 2000's
So here we are. What do you see? I see that the 90's brought the internet, X-Files and cellphones! Technology is racing. Hearts are beating faster. Capitalism is at a peak, the bible is fiction? Atheism makes a touchdown. The score is only 21-7 though. All the new things to play with, why wouldn't the youth want to play with them?

So, what are the adults doing? They are letting the youth play with the toys, then calling them fools for doing so. I think this is what I wanted to get across. It has also been brought to my attention that there have been books about this subject every decade or so, and that every generation has it's share of beatings. So take this all into perspective, youth. Be more then what people see you as, then shove it in their face. :D

What can people over 30 do to help? Get more involved in the lives of the others. Help them when they ask for it, be more understanding of the era we are in, compare it to what you grew up with and then pin point the differences and understand them. In the end, communication rules.

-Stay tuned.

P.S. I find it ironic how I talk against the dumbest generation, and this post will probably have a lot of typos, that I am to lazy to fix. :) There you go.

It's about time, hurry up already!

I think I want to talk about patience.

"Patience is a virtue," they say - to which I reply "so is good spelling."

Patience means different things to do different people. When I think about patience, I think about things not be annoying. One person might think of it as waiting at the bus stop, or waiting for the old lady in front of you to move along. But all of those are very frivolous day-by-day actives that we all encounter and have to go through. The most important form of patience though, is self-sedation.

We can all wait for a stop light, or watch the days go by as we wait for the new year. But it takes real guts, to be patient with yourself, and take the time to appreciate what you are doing and how you are doing it. Right now I'm on summer vacation, yay! But I flashback to the times (2months ago) when I was writing essays every other week for English class. For me, my 'self-patience' (as we'll call it) was being able to sit my ass down and get the thoughts out of my head and onto the paper. I was really having a hard time giving myself the time to do that. To be able to articulate my thoughts and be able to translate them in a language that people would understand, was really hard for me. It was during those times that I learned to be patient with myself. I started saying to myself, "Relax, you got time, chill out. You're in High School, this is when you really start learning about yourself, and what you are capable of."

I'm glad that happpened, you know, the revelation of such that happened to me. It allowed me to appreciate learning, time, work, and everything in between. But the sad thing is, (and I think about this a lot), is how other people just don't get it. They just don't (or can't, not sure yet) seem to be able to grasp the concept of slowing the fuck down. Once people realize that life isn't a race, it isn't a competition (until you start working of course) and that they can take the time to learn more about their capabilites, they wont! They won't give themselves the time of day to become a better human! They won't know what to care about, and what not to. They'll just focus on insignificat things like (why do I want to say politics) Julie's boyfriend or how the plants in the front yard are looking a little brown, rather than looking at something that "actually matters", like this whole global warming deal or my blog. :)

(This reminds me of a topic I want to write about. 'Depth' and how you deeply you can go into something and learn about it then use it. Take for instance if you did look into global warming and found out you wanted to help... You give as much as you take; Meaning if you study about global warming, you find out ways to help, you know everything there is to know, you are taking for yourself the resources to give out help and use what you learned etc... but if you just read an article on Yahoo! or something and find a link at the bottom that lets you donate a dollar or something, whatever. That's how it is. But I'll leave that topic for another time.)

But in all seriousness, I have found that it really takes something from inside you. Something inside you that you gotta tell it to wake up! To be aware of your situation, whatever it may be, deal with it, learn from it then move on. All that stuff takes patience.

Now patience is a topic that I could write about, for maybe another few paragraphs, but I know people gotta go and tend to their gardens, so I tried to keep it as short as I felt I needed to.

I think that's what I wanted to say. Thank you for reading.

-Stay tuned.

First...

But not last!

So, this is my first post on this blog.

For many months (maybe a year) I have been wanting to, write a book!
Then I wanted to write a short story!
Then it was 'write a few sentences!'
Then I just decided to spew out quotes that I wanted to become famous.

I've decided to go with a good medium and write a few paragraphs about whatever I want, whenever I want to. It feels good to say what you want to, and have people listen, no matter how many people it may be. Three cheers for the internet.

I hope this is a chance for me to express my ideas in a manner that people will be able to tolerate. I don't want to start ranting and have people either ferociously agree and start throwing their fists into the air chanting my name, or turn their heads in disgust. But I can't promise you that I won't rant from time to time.

So with all that in mind, I'll let you ponder about what my first 'real' post will be. Don't get to stressed out about it. :)

-Stay tuned.
